Funding Opportunites

Effective Charity Grant

We are currently evaluating this years applicants and hope to announce the recipients soon!

Purpose:

Community Action Agency of Northeast Alabama (CAANEAL), as part of the True Charity Network, is offering an opportunity to apply for funding to assist nonprofit organizations with effective charitable efforts for low-income families and individuals in our service area. CAANEAL’s mission is to build coalitions of partnerships, volunteers, and programs dedicated to breaking the cycle of poverty by improving the quality of life and empowering community participants to become self-sufficient in our service area. The goal of this partnership is to promote self-sufficiency in the lives of individuals by promoting and supporting effective charity efforts in our community. Effective charity is voluntarily sourced, challenge-oriented, and outcome driven.

Funds must be used for direct client services through programs that are outcome driven and use an exchange model. Exchange is the 5th mark of effective charity. Exchange is the engagement of a person to earn what they need. CAANEAL, along with the members of the True Charity Network, believe that work awakens worth. Agencies that utilize the exchange model will give their participants the opportunity to earn their assistance through some kind of work challenge.

Awarded organizations must join the True Charity Network if they are not already a member. Agencies will also need to complete the 7 Marks of Effective Charity training (provided online by True Charity) within the first 30 days after they are awarded.

Note: this grant is provided by CAANEAL and is not provided by The True Charity Initiative. Please do not send questions or comments to the True Charity team.
